ANISEED Pimpinella anisum
A native of the Middle East. Aniseed contains anethole and when combined with polygodial (in Horopito) effects a 32-fold increase in its activity against Candida. Other anti-fungal activity increased as much as 64-fold by combining those two compounds. Aniseed is used primarily for griping intestinal colic and flatulence, bronchitis, whooping cough and externally for the treatment of scabies and lice.

HOROPITO Pseudowintera colorata
A native of New Zealand. Contains polygodial which is active against candida albicans. Polygodial damages the membrane of fungal cell walls. Known as the "Bushman's pain killer". Useful for toothache and stomach ache. Also for burns, rashes, scars and skin eruptions, desensitises sweet tastes.

GOLDEN SEAL Hydrastis canadensis
A native of Canada and Eastern USA. Well known for its use in gastrics, colitis ulcerations and all catarrhal conditions. Also used for haemorrhoids, liver troubles, constipation and haemorrhaging.

MYRRH Commiphora myrrha
A native of Arabia and a famous Biblical herb. Stimulates the production of white blood corpuscles and has a direct anti-microbial effect therefore helping the natural process of defence. Used for mouth infections eg. ulcers and gingivitis. Also for boils and wounds. Problems of the sinus, pharynx, larynx and respiratory system. Used in treatment of glandular fever and the common cold. Helps support the digestive system especially with flatulence.

Available in sizes: 500ml, 200ml, 100ml, 50ml and 25ml.

DIRECTIONS: Shake before use. Take 5ml (one teaspoon) after meals.
CAUTION: As Golden Seal stimulates the involuntary muscles of the uterus it is recommended that pregnant women not exceed the prescribed dose.

This formula has been Self Heal's most successful one in all cases of candida, both internally and externally. The cream is more successful with external problems eg. infected fingernails.

KARAMU Coprosma robusta
Traditionally used for bladder stoppage and inflammation, stomach ache and fevers. The coprosmas help regulate prostaglandin activity. (Prostaglandins are local hormone regulators.)

KOWHAI Sophora microphylla
Is related to the famous purgative herb Senna. Many of the Sennas are used as coffee substitutes often used in traditional weight loss programmes and Kowhai's actions are similar to its relatives. Traditionally used as a tonic.

KUMARAHOU Pommaderris kumerahou
High in anti-oxidants, protects liver from lipid peroxidation. Adaptagenic activity increases performance, speed and stamina, Traditionally used for chest and kidney complaints and as a blood purifier.

MAIRE TAWAKE (swamp maire) Syzygium maire
Related to Jambul (Syzygium cumini) which is well-known in regulating blood sugar levels. This herb was used by pioneer Suzanne Aubert to assist asthma and other breathing problems.

MIRO Prumnopitys ferruginea
High in bioflavinoids which strengthens the blood vessels, particularly the smallest ones. Clears congestive toxins.

ONGAONGA Urtica ferox
Rich in vitamins and minerals, the nettles are a nutrient value in weight loss. Nettles clear toxins, lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

PURIRI Vitex lucens
Related to Chaste Tree, this is one of New Zealand's hormonal balancing herbs. Important for those who put on weight due to hormonal imbalances.

Available in sizes: 500ml, 200ml, 100ml, 50ml (dropper) and 25ml (dropper). Due to the small quantities taken the dropper sizes are more popular.

DIRECTIONS: Only small quantities are taken at a time 7 drops 3 times daily. If preferred this can be added to water or juice.

PURIRI Vitex lucens
Useful for sprains and backache, sore throats and ulcers.

Available in sizes: 500ml, 200ml, 100ml, 50ml and 25ml.

DIRECTIONS: Take 2.5ml (half-teaspoon) 4-hourly.
In cases of stomach or duodenal ulcers the dose initially may be reduced to 0.05ml (or 1/2 a dropper full) diluted in water and taken after food (especially for a gastric ulcer), 1 hourly until relief.

For use in all types of pain relief, ie rheumatic aches, sharp acute pain, nerve pain, eg tooth-ache, injury, and vague internal pains.
